3 mln iPad apps downloads

Over 3 million downloads associated with native apple iPad apps happen to be made up to now, claims ABI Research. The company’s estimate consists of all downloads made since iPad applications debuted within early 2010. As a whole they add up to almost the fifth of iOS application downloads, regardless of the iPad just shipping just a little less than 2 years after the actual App Store premiered. iPad applications also tend to be expensive compared to their apple iphone and ipod device counterparts.

“Discounting all of those apps that were originally downloaded for Android smartphones, Android still trails greatly behind the iPad in terms of its tablet app offerings,” says an ABI research associate, Lim Shiyang. “Many Android tablets in the market are still using older versions of Android, which disadvantages users from enjoying the better effects of apps produced from more advanced software development kits.”

ABI shows that Android tablets should obtain more traction following a release associated with Android 4.0.
